Crab Cooker Torn Down

As we reported was about to happen, Yesterday morning at 8am, the Crab Cooker was torn down.

The tear-down of the Crab Cooker began yesterday, a sad ending to a wonderfully historic restaurant in Newport.  Here are some videos of the teardown occurring:

By noon yesterday, the building was gone:

Now, the building is completely gone, but separated from the sidewalk by plywood for pedestrian safety.

But fear not!  The Crab Cooker is set for a huge rebuild, and is tentatively scheduled to re-open in about one year.
