Save Newport Real News in Newport Beach
This morning at about 8am, a massive transformer exploded behind the wig shop next to the old Mama’s on PCH. Building occupants in the immediate area said they felt like their buildings were literally lifted up off the ground as the explosion rocked the area.
Newport Beach Fire began responding within 30 minutes.
Power is out in the area, and could easily be out for the foreseeable future, and possibly the full the next day, as this giant transformer will be doubtlessly an effort to source and replace.
