SaveNewport Banned from Facebook

Yesterday morning, at about 10:00 in the morning, we got notification that our Facebook page was down.

Sure enough, none of the admins had access to the page any longer, and this writers personal account was also banned.

We received no warning, no emails, did not wittingly violate any terms of service, and have absolutely no idea why we may have been banned.

There was a button to appeal the process, but when applying for the appeal, and automated message said that there were no appeals available and that the ban was permanent.

We have sat back and witnessed what appeared to be clear collusion between Twitter Inc, Facebook Inc, Alphabet Inc’s Google, Amazon Inc, and Apple Inc crack down on sitting presidents and alternative “free speech” social media sites, but felt a local news site was unlikely to be a target.  We were clearly incorrect.

Alas, the Facebook page we used to build and grow our business is not currently accessible.

Please follow us on our alternative social media sites, which can be found at http://SaveNewport.com/social

Thank you for your continued readership.
