Save Newport Real News in Newport Beach
Every year, the Daily Pilot publishes what they consider to be the top 103 influencers in the Newport/Mesa area. This year, of the over 200,000 people in the Newport/Mesa area, the Pilot named me as #88– but what was unspoken was that this mention wasn’t for me– but for SaveNewport itself.
They wouldn’t have named me if this site wasn’t read and backed by all of you– while the name they put in the paper may have been “Mike Glenn”, what they meant was the community effort behind it. I know I sound like a broken record every few months when I gush thanks and praise to all of you for being involved and caring about our community, and I am sure that some of you probably think it is just lip service– but it isn’t; it is heartfelt and meaningful. This site finally gives a voice to the community which has for so long been neglected by the intrusions of big government, and it is a very big deal for our city.
While of course I’d love to take the credit for the great results (who wouldn’t?!), the reality is anything but: We’ve made huge positive strides in the last few years stemming from everyones collective efforts and collective actions, and none of it would be possible if it was just me flapping my gums in the breeze. Thank you to everyone. This year is just beginning, and I can promise some great things are already in the works!
