Dixon sends Doggie-Border-Patrols Out, Preventing Dog Beach Access… On National Dog Day

Yesterday, on National Dog Day, multiple dog catcher squads caused even more confusion by preventing people from using Newport land to traverse into the County Dog Beach, leaving people to believe that this is not a legal Dog Beach.

To be abundantly clear: The county’s Dog Beach has exactly the same legal standing as Huntington’s Dog Beach.  Now, Newport is paying dog catchers over $180k per year (and they retire with 90% of that for life) to literally block access to county land.

This is illegal, and it’s time for this to stop.  Today, I will be submitting paperwork to begin a voter initiative for our ballot to prevent our politicians from destroying this small strip of land that generations of Newporters have enjoyed for the past 101 years.

If you are able to help collect signatures, help walk door-to-door, or help in this effort in any other way, please be sure to sign up here: http://savenewport.com/dogs so that you are on our email list when the events begin kicking off.

This is yet another reason why Dixon needs to go.  Please be sure you are registered to vote here in Newport by filling out the form at http://savenewport.com/vote so your voice can be heard this coming November.  It’s time to vote them out.

SAVE DOG BEACH!

Do not ban off-leash dogs at dog beach!!! Regulars at Dog Beach know that off-leash dogs are not problematic. If, there are some which are, then address the problem dogs.
If there are problems with waste, address those who create those problems.

The public OVERWHELMINGLY supports keeping DOG BEACH a place for DOGS. Newport Beach has some of the longest coastline in Southern California and Dog Beach only accounts for roughly 100 yards. Let dogs have their small stretch of beach.

KEEP DOG BEACH THE WAY IT IS!
