TRAFFIC: Plane crashes on 405 and Macarthur, Streets At a Stand-Still

This morning, a plane crashed on the 405 near Macarthur.  The plane crashed on the freeway and burst into flames, which were extinguished by fire crews.  Roads were initially closed but re-opened, however traffic is backed up for miles in either direction, so if you are planning on being in the area, a trip on the surface streets instead of the freeway is highly recommended.

You can monitor the traffic situation at http://savenewport.com/traffic/

No word yet on why the plane crashed, the condition of the driver, or whether or not there were any other injuries.  If you have information on this, please let us know.
