The Super Duperest of Super Moons! (and really high tides)

As everyone knows, the moon doesn’t revolve around the world in a perfect circle.  It not only wobbles, but its own center of rotation is off-kilter from the earth being at the center.  Every few months we have a “Super Moon”, where the moon is at apogee and is also a full moon.  Typically, these happen about once per year, …

Happy belated birthday, Marines.

On November 10, 1775, the Marines were officially born through a resolution by Second Continental Congress meeting in Philadelphia. Please excuse the MSPainted photo.  For the last 241 years, our Marine friends have been fighting on the front lines to protect our country against our enemies. As I was born and raised in Jacksonville Florida (which had a whopping three …

Thank you– all of you– for your help in my race.  From the people who helped me walk districts to the people who hosted signs, the people who donated money and the people who helped me staple my flyers.  Thank you, especially, everyone who personally helped to spread the word of my campaign, and to to every single person who …

Dog Beach, the Final Vote

Boy have we all been through it.  What should have been a simple process of legalizing Dog Beach became a year-long battle with city, county, state, and federal governments. We have had to document the cleanliness of the area: – Surprisingly, it’s just as clean as any other beach in the surrounding areas. We have had to document the safety …

Don’t Forget: “Fall Back” Sunday!

Remember that Sunday morning we set our clocks BACK by one hour, so that 1:59am happens twice in one day. Daylight savings has to do with energy savings, particularly in old factories.  By slightly adjusting the clock to account for the changes in the sunrise and sunset times, employers were able to save money on heating and electricity.  Sorry, “Simpsons” fans: it has …

Hit Piece Targets Mike Glenn… badly

Wednesday and Thursday, a hit piece mailer was arriving in mailboxes throughout Newport Beach.  It attempted to cast me in a bad light– but was filled with inaccurate information. First, it says that I molested a coin-operated vending machine.  Besides the image that brings forward by the East Coast law-language, the fact is that I beat up a newspaper vending machine …

Candidates on KOCI FM (101.5)

On Sunday, I did a live forum on-air at KOCI FM (101.5fm). There was a very heated moment that many heard via audio only between Phil Greer and Fred Ameri. Here’s the whole thing on video. Pay attention to who says things of material difference showing a deep understanding and solid philosophical foundation vs simply saying things which allow you …

Happy Halloween!!

A Sand-O-Lantern

Happy Halloween, beachdwellers! Tonight is a special night and remains one of my favorite holidays, to this day!  Remember that some people still use “live” candles in jack-o-lanterns, so baggy-clothed costumes for the young ones need to be watched carefully to ensure they don’t get too close (and also so they don’t trip!).  Inspect all candy.  Smile.  Greet your neighbors. …

Take the Downtowner for Free Tonight, and Meet Me!

Tonight starting at 6pm, I will be in a Downtowner vehicle with some Mike Glenn signs affixed to the side of it. There are, of course, several Downtowner vehicles, so I may not be in the one you hail, but if you see the cart with me in it, send me a honk or a wave! As you probably know, …
