TONIGHT, Wednesday June 3rd, there will be a large fundraiser for Ben Carlson, our lost lifeguard. The event will be held at the Balboa Bay Club from 6pm-9pm, and is open to the public. There is no cover charge and there are no reservations. Simply come in, grab a drink, and mingle with those who are there to pay their respects to Ben.
The foundation has raised over $70,000 so far, and expect that tonight’s effort will raise a significant amount of money as well– so it should be one for the books. Come out and join us tonight and bring your friends. It’s a great cause, a great view, and with great people!
Ben was the first lifeguard to lose his life in the 100+ year history of Newport Beach, and whose memorial was marked by a massive outcry of support making international news. A true hero of Newport Ben was loved by all who knew him. The proceeds from tonights benefit will go to construct a statue in his honor and to help warn others of the dangers that rough waters pose.
