Despite heavy rhetoric from councilpeople to oppose it, today, the Newport Beach City Council had “magic happen” in closed session– so we don’t know who supported what– and the end result was to seal off beach access to citizens. A “hard close”, allowing zero people on the beach– due to an unconstitutional, retributive order from Gavin Newsom’s office, in direct conflict with Title 18 Section 242 of US Code, even though each councilperson took an oath to uphold the Constitution, and even though our police did, too.
Which order is that, you say? Well, nobody has any idea yet, because Newsom’s office hasn’t actually published it yet, but it will presumably be published, here: https://www.gov.ca.gov/category/executive-orders/
Because that is how government now operates now’days, apparently: Secretly.
“A republic, if you can keep it.”, said Ben Franklin.
Boy, would he be disappointed today.
