5th Annual Wooden Boat Festival This Weekend

Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m, visitors can admire the style and craftsmanship of some of our areas– and Newport’s– finest wooden boats at the Balboa Yacht Club.  Visitors are welcome to board many of the boats, and it is a great and family-oriented event, which will include oceanographic art, food, live music, a silent auction and “Kids Toy Boat Building Pavilion”.  More event info can be found here: https://newportbeachwoodenboatfestival.com/schedule/

Two stars of the show include the 118-foot Spirit of Dana Point and the 86-foot-long Astor, from Newport Beach, which turned a jolly 95 years old this year.

You can park and ride a shuttle from 1600 Newport Center Drive, and a water taxi will also be picking up showgoers at specific locations throughout the harbor (https://newportbeachwoodenboatfestival.com/water-taxi/).  There is no parking at Balboa Yacht Club, and street parking will be limited.

Special thanks to real estate agent and generational-local Robert Bents for the heads up on this while I am out of town again (and admittedly, missing a few very fun things!).  Don’t worry– I’ll be back Sunday… for a very long time 🙂
