We screwed up bigtime this year and missed some of the opening days for the Yacht Clubs around the harbor– here are who’s already had em, and who is coming up next!
First, Newport Harbor Yacht Club is celebrating its 102nd anniversary. Their new building is really coming together now, and I can’t wait to check it out when it is finished! They had their opening day on Saturday the 5th, and by all accounts, it was amazing.
Lido Isle Yacht Club also had their Opening Day on the 5th, so there was some split between them– but what a great day it was.
The American Legion Yacht Club had theirs the following day, on Sunday the 6th– and a happy 51st birthday to them! (I cannot find the details for the Elks Lodge Yacht Club, but if anyone has them, please let me know!)
Bahia Corinthian Yacht Club turns 60 this year with their opening day, scheduled for this coming Saturday, May the 12th– happy birthday, BCYC!
The Balboa Yacht Club has their Opening Day on Saturday, May 12th, and the return of the Beercan Races on Thursday the 17th, so buckle up soon!
And Balboa Basin Yacht Club will be having their Opening Day celebrations on May the 22nd, which always proves to be an entertaining event!
South Shore Yacht Club will be pushing the boundaries of the summertime with a June 5th Opening Day celebration.
All and all, this is shaping up to be a great summer and the always-temperamental ocean is sure to give us some smooth sailing days ahead.
