Happy birthday to us!
Yes, we’ve been around quite a bit longer than just three years, but today is the third anniversary of the official launch of the savenewport.com domain name!
The original Facebook page was founded way back in 2013, and as it grew, we added Twitter, and eventually its official website. Right now, we are receiving an average of 10,000 views per day– more than any other news circulation in Newport (including the LATimes or the OCRegister!). That says a lot about what a focused and local coverage means to our communities.
More importantly, it shows how concerned this community is with how it is being governed. We’ve had a lot of weird things get proposed from our city council since we started this site, and I hope that I’ve been able to keep up with your expectations on local coverage. I can’t be everywhere at once and I always appreciate the tips that people send in– please, please, please keep them coming– I am just a single person operating this entire thing along in his spare time, and there is no way all of this would be possible without your tips and your activism!
We will be having a small birthday party on the peninsula this Saturday to celebrate– stay tuned for details!
