Beloved Newport Businessman Identified as Crash Victim, Paddleout Planned for Saturday

Three days ago, a helicopter crashed in Newport Beach, killing three people including Kimberly Lynne Watzman, 45, of Santa Monica Brian Reichelt, 56, of Hollywood, FL, and Joseph “Pepe” Anthony Tena, 60,  of Newport Beach.  Another passenger and a citizen on the ground were also injured and remain in the hospital. Helicopter Crash on Bristol Street & Bayview Place in Santa Ana Heights

Earthquake Wakes Newport at 2:09am

Did you feel it? At 2:09:56am this morning, an earthquake which immediately registered as a 4.1 (later downgraded to a 4.0) sent its waves through Newport Beach.  The quake was centered at 33.741°N 117.491°W, near Corona California, approximately 27 miles from Hoag Hospital.  A quick but gentle jolt, this was enough to wake light sleepers in the area. DA Seizes Peotter Recall Petitions for Fraud
