We Just Broke 4,000 Subscribers– Thank You, So Much!

Two months to the day after hitting our last benchmark, we broke the very big barrier of over 4,000 Facebook subscribers alone– and we show no signs of stopping the growth!

While our Federal Government certainly gets the most press, our local government is the one that has the most effect on our day-to-day lives.  From Diane Dixon’s “Lights Out At 11pm” to Mike Henn’s “Dock Tax” or Keith Curry’s “Fire Ring Ban“, these intrusive policies of theft, taxation, and Big Government are the ones that really disrupt our lives and really hit home for all of us here in Newport.

We will forever be exposed to the small number loons who want to ruin our beautiful life in what I consider to be the best town in America, and your involvement here is appreciated beyond words– it truly makes a difference.   Without you, we simply wouldn’t have been able to stop or overturn any of these.

While anyone would selfishly love to take all the credit for this– let’s be honest: I could sit around flap my gums all day but without the support of people like you, it would be useless.  You caring about our community is what matters.  It’s what makes this site work… in fact: It’s what makes GOVERNMENT work.  It’s what got us back our fire rings, lessened the impact of the dock tax, and stopped Dixon’s “Lights Out” proposal right in its tracks.

As much as it often feels like the government is so big, so unwieldy, and so overbearing– and as much as we sometimes feel that we are but a small and voiceless minority– when our collective voices are heard, we can stop bad government growth and– with forums like this one– we can stop it before it even happens.  How freaking awesome is that?

Between Facebook, email, Twitter, and just regular ol’ webpage views, our content is read many tens of thousands of times per week, essentially making any randomly selected article as the most-read in Newport Beach on any given day.  In a city of just 85,000 people and 55,000 voters– this is a very, very big deal!  There is no way I could have done it alone.

I have a small but elite software development company (yes, we are entirely US-based), so work does often pull me away as I have to be “Mr Salesman” to keep us all afloat, but I will continue to keep everyone up to date as much as I can with my work schedule.  I put a ton of my own time and a ton of my own money into this, so I need to be able to make sure I can continue! 🙂

Thank you again all for your concern for our little beach town– truly the best place on earth.  Keeping it that way is a fight, and with some of our electeds, it will surely continue to be, but we’ll definitely keep up the battle.
