UberX: Now Serving John Wayne Airport!

As of March 31st, you can take an Uber to and from John Wayne Airport!

Taxi services throughout the company have been gouging both drivers and passengers for years.  However, the cost of barrier to entry on this market kept out most competition– until technology came about.  Uber disrupted the market completely, allowing people to leverage their own vehicles and time to help aide the public in transportation when they needed it most.

In most areas, “Big Taxi” has fought to limit the ridesharing economy, and in almost no airports are they allowed, thanks to the strong lobbying power of the industry that Uber is replacing.

However, in the Orange County Board of Supervisors (where we are represented by Michelle Steel), things run with a sense of liberty, not cronyism.  Steel led the charge to remove the restrictions to this market and restore freedom of choice.  No longer are you restricted to just Yellow Cab; you can now also choose between Uber or the newly launched “Wingz” ridesharing service.  Note: There has been no mention of the popular Lyft service or where they stand in this process.

We’d like to take this time to thank Michelle Steel for her efforts on allowing market competition.  We know that there were great political dragons to slay to accomplish this for the public, and we thank you and the other OC Supervisors for getting the job done!
