SaveNewport Site Goes LIVE!

While we’ve noisily building momentum on Facebook over the last year, SaveNewport now has over 2,800 subscribers and a weekly reach of more than 35,000 people in [mostly] Newport Beach.  Some weeks, our reach peaks over 6 figures!  As a project that I started simply to help raise awareness of our city council and management, this has grown further than I had ever imagined– and taken a few pivots along the way.

In addition to my opinion pieces and highlighting of the thought processes behind the Council, the last few months I’ve broken stories from “weird fish” to the reopening of the Ritz.  I’ve rallied people against the council’s obscene no-bid contracts, the raiding of our community resources, and what is seems to be flatly illegal use of taxpayer dollars– all executed by our council.  I’ve covered triumphs of surfing and used the reach of the site to raise over $11,000 for friend and lifeguard, Ben Carlson.  Moving forward, I will continue to use the platform to provide community news and involvement but will begin disseminating and archiving that information under this new site, as well.  This, surely, will only increase reach and influence.

Thank you all for your support. We’ve got several other big stories in the works, and you should expect to see a big one detailed here… next Monday morning. 🙂

So please excuse our clunky launch for now. Some features on the site may not work, a few dates of articles are incorrect (we had to backfill some content!)– but we promise it will only get better as we go forward.  My dedication to this city is unwavering, and we will re-take our council, come November.

If you have anything that you think needs to be communicated to Newport Beach, to me, or would like to volunteer your time, I’d be very excited hear from you!  Please get in contact with me directly, at 949.229.0096 or at SaveNewport@devion.com
