RINOs: Not an endangered species in Newport

RINOs Run Rampant in Newport

DONT VOTE for these people who have poisoned our city with bad policy, toxic spending, increased taxes, violations of Prop13, and have somehow managed to double the total debt of the city in the last 10 years– almost unbelievably more than the other 95 years of Newport’s history, combined. Members of our awful council currently up for election in November …

Reef of Trash Washes Ashore

Used Tire Reef experiment

Yesterday, the tide washed up an embarrassing story for our city. In 1988, an inventor from France created an “artificial reef” comprised of 1,500 used tires off the coast of Balboa Peninsula. The storm caused by the hurricane blew these tires ashore. It took nearly an hour for the “gunk” to wash off of them. There was no life growing …

BIG NEWS for BIG WAVES on BIG WEDNESDAY!

Photo credit to Allen Schaben, of Newporter Bobby Okvist

We will likely see over 25 foot waves at the Wedge from WED-FRI, thanks to Hurricane Marie being just 800 miles off our coast. Will this mean tubes? Apparently, they are called “By The Wind Sailors”, and they could start stinking pretty badly if we don’t clean them up very soon! We’ve never seen them before– have you? Audit City Hall movement gains traction!

Scott Peotter and Kevin Muldoon

BREAKING: City Council Candidates Scott Peotter and Kevin Muldoon support our proposal to AUDIT our $250m city hall. Our neighbors of the same population size built their city hall for $24m, and as Irvine’s audit of $250m debacle turns into more and more of a fiasco, we will surely see more join in on the calls for an audit. We …

The Ritz Returns!

The Ritz Returns by Anita Seiveley

The Ritz was a Newport mainstay– where countless business deals were signed over a “three martini lunch”. It closed earlier this year around Valentines Day… but the place that Newport loves is apparently coming back in a new location– near Billy’s on PCH! This will be where the Chart House used to be. Thank you Anita Seiveley for your eagle-eyes, …

Balboa Market Flashback

Balboa Market, credit unknown

I cancelled the old TBT because I’m having serious nostalgia for the old Balboa Market. Here are some photos of one of the most iconic buildings in Newport, torn down to put a parking lot on it. The city will be doing something similar with the old Blockbuster building– a building I personally find to be beautiful, but I know …
