So every election cycle they put some unnecessary local ordinance on the ballot. Sometimes it matters a lot to address a very immediate problem, sometimes it’s just for show.
In this case, it’s just for show (I’m voting “no” to growing government just for show)
The reason for the “show”? Because the candidates who “support” the measure, regardless of how stupid it is, can raise unlimited money to extoll how fantastic their supporters are, under the guise that it is showing how great the local ordinance is.
In essence, this allows the candidates to raise unlimited amounts of money (instead of the $1200/person allowed normally).
It’s a gross abuse of the system.
