The Community Would Prefer Blinking Crosswalks Rather than Quarter-Million-Dollar Roadsigns

Two councils ago, we had a council makeup that decided to spend $220k on bunnies (nearly $400k after loan payments). We elected people who claimed to be “fiscally responsible” after that, but even some of them joined up to spend more than a quarter-million dollars in a single-shot on a sign that says “Welcome to Balboa Village, Home of the Fun Zone” (Dixon, Selich, Curry, and Petros voted for this), as though anyone was wondering where they were when they travelled 2.4 miles on Balboa Peninsula down Balboa Blvd towards the Balboa Pier towards Balboa– on a street with no exits. For this amount of money, we could have outfitted all of the major crosswalks on the entire peninsula with flashing crosswalks. Do you think this would be a better spend of your money?
