House Fire on Balboa

Last night’s house fire on Balboa Peninsula on the 300 block of 34th Street on Balboa Peninsula was pretty big, even catching the neighbors house on fire, next door. Units responded to the house fire at 4:15am.  Two people were forced to jump for safety, according to eyewitness and nearby neighbor to the event, Josh Fry.  Fry was live the scene and confirmed that at two people jumped to avoid the flames, and appeared to have significant caution on used while treating injuries. One of the injured appeared to have a neck brace, while another was strapped to a back board as they were being loaded into emergency vehicles. These could simply be standard precautions, and our hopes are with them and their families for a full recovery.

While investigations are ongoing, the preliminary analysis is that this was due to a Christmas Tree fire. PLEASE: Do not over-load your circuits during the holiday season. Christmas Tree fires are particularly dangerous due to their high burning temperatures and fast-spreading tendencies.
